We went to see the Immigrant Wall of Honor the other day on an unseasonal warm but welcome February Saturday. As New Yorkers who have never been to the Statue of Liberty or Ellis Island, we both thought of it as a tourist trap. We were wrong!
Our plan was to take the ferry over and see Pamuk’s inscription and leave.

Hours later… Ellis Island is a fascinating place. The exhibits are engaging. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Perfectly happy to geek out with me on little details like the podium where papers were stamped and how medical clearance worked. Imagine this space filled with people waiting to be admitted into the U.S.
Cannot recommend a day trip highly enough. We will be back!
